Simon Bissah

In February 2003, Vice President and acting General Secretary of the Ghana AC Conference, Rev. Simon Bissah, was appointed president. Rev. Bissah, a native Ghanaian, accepted the post with a servant attitude and a strong desire to expand the Kingdom of Christ.

He said, “We are here to perform our duty to win souls for Christ and nothing should be allowed to delay the work that the Lord has chosen us for. The good hand of the almighty God is upon us for a better insight into the realms of his word to expand the gospel all over the world.”

Rev. Bissah brings four years of study and leadership training to his role. His tenure is marked by steady growth. He and his leaders have tailored a constitution and slate of officers to fit the needs o f the Conference, developed criteria for churches who desire to affiliate, overseen division of the Conference into manageable regions, and dealt with the lack of worship facilities and need for more pastors for their churches.

Great challenges have come in the form of differences among Liberian refugees and native Ghanaians. In 2008, the Ghanaian government started deporting Liberian refugees to their home country. Later that year, Rev. Bissah and a delegate met with the remaining refugees to help solve long held disputes. They “settled the disputes amicably and tears of joy and regret were shed by all to bring a true reconciliation to being.”

Another ongoing task is stewardship of resources. Rev. Bissah accepts a “responsibility to crush the spirit of financial malpractices” and implement financial accountability.

Simon Bissah lives in Nsawam, Ghana, with wife Christiana, sons Jireh and Jesse, and daughter Lawrencia. He pastors the Nsawam AC Church and also teaches primary school.

He says, “I believe with your prayer backing mine, I will fight a good fight to bring glory to the Almighty God in the Ghana conference with the Advent Christian Church. I want to be praised by God and not by men, so I plead with you to help me accomplish this purpose God has for me in the Advent Christian Church.”

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
