Prayer Thoughts

“What is the use of praying if at the moment of prayer we have so little confidence in God that we are busy planning our own kind of answer to our prayer?”

When we depend on man, we get what man can do.

When we depend on prayer, we get what God can do.

Welcome to the ACGC Prayer Emphasis Page

I want to welcome you to the 2013 Prayer Emphasis page. This year we are not only sending out printed material but providing a blog for the entire month of May. Our goal is encourage everyone to seriously consider “Picking up the P.A.C.E.”

This acronym (PACE) stands for something that we are very passionate about. Namely, we want Advent Christians everywhere to become more committed to prayer not only in theory or theology buy in practice.

By regularly visiting the Blog you will be able to read a number of posts written to encourage you in your effort.  Resources will be shared on this page that will assist you not only in your personal prayer life but possibly be used to help others throughout your church or Christian relationships.

In addition, we will provide a prayer calendar that you can use to guide you in your prayer life throughout the month of May.  This calendar will list each day those prayer concerns that concern us all and enable us to have a united prayer attack on a variety of issues that are important to all of us.

We are also very excited to offer a Blog approach to Prayer Emphasis because it will help us include all of our international Advent Christians in this concerted effort to become praying Advent Christians everywhere.

Finally, this year’s blog will give Advent Christians everywhere an opportunity to respond to us, not only your thoughts about the various posts, but a way to share your prayer concerns with us in the denominational officers.  We will take these very seriously and join you in your prayer concerns.

Picking Up the PACE together,

Dr. Sam Warren

A Prayer for Boldness

Read Acts 4:23-31
When the Church was young, there is no doubt that constant persecution was often faced. Contrary to what we would often like to tell ourselves, the tremendous growth that happened in this new upstart religion did not happen because they had it easier than us. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Times were tough for early believers. They often felt the wrath of all those around them, including the mighty Roman Empire. But as we look at the pattern of the first century church, one important thing becomes abundantly clear… These people would not back down! In fact, they continued daily to preach the Gospel of Jesus with boldness, no matter whom or what came their way.
