A Word From Our Executive Director - April 8, 2009

Within the last nine days, I have worshiped in four different churches and visited three others. It has been an experience that has generated a deep and lasting joy. Being able to worship with our church families at Iron Gate, Clifton Forge and Lone Star in Virginia was a celebration of our precious fellowship we find only in Christ. Rev. Gene and Sandy Peters made the welcome warm and gracious. The opportunity to see Victory Chapel and Oak Grove AC Churches gave me a greater appreciation for the ministry to our rural communities.

Later in the week, I traveled to Aurora, Ill., to attend the board meetings of the Central Region. It was a personal pleasure to be able to see many of the people who were a part of my “growing up,” as Aurora was my home for 20 years.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H.,
WORSHIP CANTATA

The Advent Christian Church choir in Portsmouth, N.H., is pleased to perform “Thank You for the Cross,” an Easter Worship Cantata by Mary Parks. The choir is about 15 members strong. Performances this year will include Sunday, April 5, at Meetinghouse Village in Kittery, Maine at 6:00 p.m., and then a new senior housing development in Kittery, Maine, called “Kittery Estates” on Thursday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. Kittery Estates is an exciting outreach opportunity for us, and they are so excited to have us come that they have invited us to attend dinner prior to the concert. We pray that the Lord will really help us reach out to this community. The final performance will be at the Advent Christian Church on Sunday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come to any of these performances, and all of them are handicap accessible. For more information, call (603) 436-7554. IF Update - April 8, 2009

The other day, someone told me that they have started to look for or at least try to notice things around them more often because of the many sayings or signs that I see while traveling. Well, it happened again. Yesterday, as I made my way back to Charlotte from Jacksonville, I had almost passed by a truck when I caught the caption on the side panel. It was a simple statement, but one that I can’t seem to get out of my mind.
