A Word From Our Executive Director - August 26, 2009 |
Last Wednesday, I traveled to Mount Vernon, Ohio, to participate in the meetings of the Ohio Advent Christian Conference. The theme for the series of messages and conference meeting was taken from Jeremiah 20:9, "But if I say, 'I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,' his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot."
Each night, the special music was provided by one of the conference churches. |

IF Update - August 26, 2009 |
Life is full of twists and turns. Sometimes, we are excited about the possibility of a new beginning, which occurs when we have made a decision to change directions in our life and are filled with anticipation. On other occasions we are confronted with a new direction due to the unexpected. I thought about this during the last few days as I looked at the site where 43 cottages burned to the ground on the campus of the Alton Bay Conference Center in Alton Bay, N.H. No one expected the fire that caused this change, but, now each one is faced with a new day — a new way.
The Christian must trust the Lord at every turn; trusting Christ can’t be a casual occurrence. We can’t live life as if we have everything figured out, nor should we get used to doing things the same way, especially in a spiritual sense, because the Spirit of God may very well want to take us in a new direction — a new way. |

World Outreach - August 26, 2009 |
 FROM THE AFRICA/EUROPEAN AREA DIRECTOR
Jesus, in talking to the disciples about evangelism among the Samaritans, said, "You have a saying, 'Four more months and then the harvest.' But I tell you, take a good look at the fields; the crops are now ripe and ready to be harvested!" (John 4:35)
We find this to be very true in Malawi and Mozambique. They are having a very fruitful time of church planting and revivals. The testimonies we receive of changed lives are inspiring. They really bring glory to God and show the power of Jesus’ blood and righteousness. Yet, the ongoing physical needs of Malawi are still pressing. |
