A Word From Our Coordinator of Stewardship & Tithing - December 9, 2009 |
Making the Most of Our Gifts
During the Christmas season, we all want to see our children and grandchildren thrill with the insightful toys that got them. We would like to be considered “cool” givers that understand the difference between name brands and generic. Most of us know that it isn’t until they have gone to college for about three years that they really get excited about new socks and underwear.
This desire to please the ones we love is at the heart of Christmas, and especially the heart of our walk with God. |

News From Around Our Churches - December 9, 2009 |
 FROM HONDURAS
The fall 2009 Newsletter for Cristo Salva is now available online at www.cristosalva.org
Here are some of the highlights of the work done by the team that went in October:
- The team went out into the villages to distribute clothing and food. More than 1,200 lbs. of food was given to families this trip. ”Dr.” Stan (Stan recently completed his doctorate in missions) was again able to distribute Sunday school material and Bibles.
- Cottage industries are going in full force. Jazmin and her mom made 180 very beautiful cards. With some of the money they earned, a pig was bought which later had four piglets! They will be able to help support and feed their family by raising the pigs. Arnold was also able to make quite a few barbed wire stars to sell.
- There were three new decisions for Christ. In El Choritzo, near the Sula hospital, Maria Celeste made a decision for Christ, but her husband, Santiago, was not ready. Returning later in the day, Santiago, too, became a new believer.

World Outreach - December 9, 2009 |
FROM THE DIRECTOR OF WORLD OUTREACH
World Outreach for the Advent Christian Church continues to be in the forefront of much of our resource allocation. Thank you for your prayers and support over this past year. Your kindness and generosity has meant that together we have been able to participate in the Great Commission. That effort has resulted in many new names being written in the Lamb’s Book of Life as well as people growing in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus.
As focus is turned towards the New Year ahead, the Department of World Outreach is currently in the process of strategic thinking and planning. How would the Spirit lead us in best distributing our resources? This question has brought two groups of forward thinking people together as the Strategic Planning Committee that they might struggle with envisioning answers to this important query. |

IF Update - December 9, 2009 |
I like watching people; in fact, I think it could be a sport. I could spend hours sitting in a mall or in an airport just watching people. There’s only one thing I could do more, that’s listening to people.
On a recent trip, I had to chuckle as I walked toward my gate at a Midwest airport and listened to the conversations going on around me. Even more amazing are the people who are carrying on these conversations. They range from a businessman or businesswoman to a mother looking ragged as she pushes a loaded baby stroller.
