IF Update

IF Update - February 4, 2009

Okay, I’m not a medical doctor, but today I want to give you a physical exam. In order to do this, you will have to stop periodically as you read today’s IF Team and perform an exercise of sorts.

Let’s begin. I want you to stop and hold out your hands in front of you with your palms up. Take a minute and examine the intricacies of your hands. Notice the lines, the flesh beneath flesh, the texture and the design of the hand itself. Are you, done? Since you’re done, I’ll have to “hand” it to you (no, I didn’t really say that, did I?). Let’s continue!

A Word from the Executive Director - February 4, 2009

For many of us, January could be named the National Report Month. Nearly every household in the U.S. is collecting records and receipts in order to file their “report” to the IRS. Many businesses and employees within businesses are required to submit a year-end report. We, here in Charlotte, have written our reports to the Executive Council, who will be meeting here next week.

World Outreach - February 4, 2009

Simon Bissah is president of our Advent Christian family in Ghana. Often we have emailed, sometimes phoned, and met once in Nairobi, Kenya. Always he has asked me to come and visit our family in Ghana. Now, after being in this position for almost four years, I will finally visit Ghana. As you may already know, this May I am traveling with a team to Liberia to assemble a church and a medical clinic that have been donated by our Hope Community church in Chicago.

MYANMAR

Recently, Ernie Schache and John Middlewood met in Thailand with four men who represent our leadership in Myanmar. The men expressed real frustration with cultural and governmental persecution coming against the Christian church in their country. Myanmar is still recovering from cyclone Nargis, which struck the country in May of 2008. It has been one catastrophe after another. Christians are suffering in Myanmar. Upcoming Events & Announcements - February 4, 2009

WEST JACKSONVILLE
90TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
We at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church are approaching a milestone in our ministry. On February 22, 2009, we will be celebrating 90 years of ministry as a body of believers. Our celebration will begin with our worship service at 10 a.m. to be followed by food and fellowship afterwards. All past and present members are invited to come, and we are hoping to feature these folks as part of the service. They will serve as a reminder of our past blessings, and we would also be able to renew friendships. We are praying that many of our former members will be able to be with us for this celebration.

If you are a past or present member, please invite your children/relatives who might have been a part of our fellowship through the years to join us. (Rev. Logan Mullis and Rev. Christopher Hall)
