A Word From Our Executive Director - June 3, 2009 |
Our Area Directors, representing our international outreach, met together in Charlotte, N.C., this past Monday and Tuesday, June 1 - 2, 2009. News From Around Our Churches - June 3, 2009 |
 INDIA
In April I sought prayer for the then forthcoming national elections in India. God answered your prayers and the prayers of many throughout the world in a wonderful way – please remember to thank him.
Sixty percent of the registered voters (approximately 428 million) cast their ballots on four polling days spread over a month. The result was an overwhelming win for the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) coalition. The Congress Party itself increased their electorates – the largest mandate for any party in India since 1991. |

 CAMP DIXIE
Join us for Staff Training Week 2009!
Need some training for your camp counselors or ministry team? Why not send or bring them to a joint staff training event on June 7 - 12 held at Camp Dixie in Fayetteville, N.C.? The Summer Ministries teams from the Florida AC Conference, the Appalachian Region and Camp Dixie's entire summer camp staff have found this to be a very effective means of combining resources and preparing students for a summer of effective ministry. |

World Outreach Update - June 3, 2009 |
 FROM THE AFRICA/EUROPE AREA DIRECTOR
I thank the Lord for all of your prayers for my recent trip to Liberia and Ghana, but I need to ask for more. As many of you know, I went with a team to Liberia to build a church and clinic. The problem we faced was that the Liberian government held up our container and did not release it for the entire time we were there; it was a major disappointment. Everyone on the team was eager to complete the job. But even at this late date the church and clinic may be built. Even as I write this, our Liberian Conference president, Pastor Abraham David, is working for the release of the container from the dock. |

IF Update - June 3, 2009 |

My brother-in-law once said, “The only thing that really lasts is people.” Ever since I heard that, I have put less and less emphasis upon things and more and more upon the effort of building lasting and meaningful relationships.
I love my involvement in the Lead Team, because this is an intentional gathering of pastors/leaders for a 24-hour period of doing life together. Just the other day, as we were returning to the Blowing Rock campground after dinner, I saw a sign that caught my attention because it represented our experience during the retreat.
