IF Update - March 18, 2009
I love to read the Scriptures, and quite often it cuts to the heart of my need. On Monday, it happened again as I read 1 Corinthians 1:26. Here, Paul reminds the believers in Corinth that no matter what we achieve in life, it’s a good thing to remember where we come from. While some people are born into wealth and lifestyles of the rich and famous, most of us are regular kinds of folks. What we achieve in life is not because we made it happen. Now, don’t get me wrong, we probably have gotten where we are in life because we worked hard, but there are always people and situations that occur along our journey that help form who we become.

Greetings From Your National Offices!

This past weekend was spent in the Midwest as I was invited to attend the Prairie States Conference in Illinois. The meetings were hosted by the Prophetstown Advent Christian Church and President Dr. Bill Norwood presided over the business addressed by the official board and the delegate body. In addition to my meeting with the board on Friday, I spoke about the changing face of missions at a luncheon arranged by Dorothy Duffield, president of the Central Region’s WH&FM Society. There were workshops to follow, led by Kenny Latimore, pastor of the Aurora AC Church, and Mike Gardner, CACMS superintendent. An evening service led by the worship team and choir of the Prophetstown AC Church completed the day. On Saturday, during the business session, I shared a PowerPoint® presentation about United Ministries and how it serves the local church world wide.

CONNECTICUT
Imagine a ministry where you are able to give the people of your community some help in this time of economic crisis. Imagine that they will come into your doors to get it by the hundreds. Imagine that while they are coming into your doors that they share with you how they are hurting (sometimes without you even asking them), virtually opening the door for you to share Jesus with them. Now imagine that this ministry will have barely any over head; in fact you might even get some money back for your church.

Sounds unbelievable doesn’t it? I would’ve said the same thing just four or five months ago. However, I have seen with my own two eyes how real this ministry is. The ministry is called Angelfood Ministries. Their website is www.angelfoodministries.com

God is using this ministry in a powerful way in our community.

FROM JAN HENDRICKSON

There are advantages to living in a small town. One of them is that people are interested in my life and what I am doing. I had the chance today to share pictures of my work and experiences in Mati at the local hardware store. Store owner Debbie Jackson and I have known each other for several years, so she was anxious to have a better "picture" of what I am doing in the Philippines. She invited me to bring my computer to the hardware store and share as much as I wanted to with her and any customers who might be in the store! I love to talk about the children, the SSE work, adult Bible studies, etc., so I went in this morning and spent nearly an hour sharing about the work of Agape House Ministries of Pujada, Inc.  Blessings,
(Jan Hendrickson)
