A Word From Our Executive Director - November 11, 2009

Following Leaders

Some of the most experienced and gifted leaders in our denomination are the men and women who stand before our congregations Sunday after Sunday. It’s always an insightful and informative experience to hear from those who are engaged in real ministry day in and day out. One setting that has provided the forum to learn from these faithful leaders has been when I have been around the table with a group that makes up the L.E.A.D. Team SE. Last week, I participated in the quarterly twenty-four hour retreat at the Appalachian camp grounds in Blowing Rock, N.C., with a group of pastors. This is one of many similar groups that are meeting across the country, formed out of a model launched by a group of pastors from the northwest. L.E.A.D. is an acronym for Learn – Encourage – Achieve – Dream.

CANDOR SOUL RE-FRESHMENT ACTIVITIES 09
( Christian Academy in Davao Oriental )

Soul Re-freshment Activity is a culmination of the weekly activity hour of students. The main purpose of this is to lead the students to a deeper and closer relationship to Jesus Christ. This semester, five batches of soul refreshment activities were done and were held at the CANDOR campus, starting from the last Friday of September up to this month. The 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th batches were intended for the first year students. There were different programs, as there were different speakers and facilitators, but one goal. The goal was to let them know their purpose and why they are here.

IF Update - November 11, 2009

These past few weeks have taken me into a number of different settings around the country. I have always enjoyed this time of the year because of the seasonal changes. My recent trip to New England, once again, gave me the opportunity to see the beautiful colors of fall. Interestingly, on the same trip, it snowed 2 – 3 inches. A few days later, I was brought back to “my” reality as I was greeted by the 85 degree weather in Florida. Perhaps it’s because I travel a great deal that this kind of sudden change doesn’t affect me too much. However, it does remind me of a very important fact concerning life and ministry, the fact that change is inevitable and even necessary.
