A Word From Our Executive Director - November 4, 2009 |
 Fun at the office . . .
Last Thursday, the staff brought in some trays of homemade donuts, cookies, sandwiches and cakes and created a time called, “Autumn Celebration.” As the announcement was posted through the inner office e-mail, the invitation encouraged casual dress for the day and also allowed those who chose to observe the festive season to dress in costume. It was quite a sight, especially when our UPS driver was greeted by Donna, the Carolina Panther and Helen the bag lady. |

MEETINGHOUSE VILLAGE BOOKLET
Advent Christian Retirement Communities (ACRC) is pleased to announce the recent publication of “With A Gracious Hand Upon Us.” The booklet chronicles the first 16 years of Meetinghouse Village (MV), their senior living community in Kittery, Maine.
Authored by former Executive Director Paul Andrews, the story recounts MV’s development from an “idea” in 1986 to the north and south campus communities they have today. Included are the accounts of remarkable events where God moved in the face of considerable odds.

PHILIPPINES
The "Western Wall" at Oro Bible College is nearly completed! Workers have been busy during the semester break constructing the nearly 10-foot high wall. Everyone has noted how it adds a pleasant atmosphere of privacy to that side of the campus. It’s especially helpful for security, making it much more difficult for an intruder to enter. |

FROM THE LATIN AMERICA AREA DIRECTOR
God is faithful to the faithful.
The Lord recently allowed me another trip to the South of the Baja peninsula as part of 99 Plus 1. Our travels took us to several locations to renew friendships and meet and assist other brothers and sisters that God has put in our path. One of those stops was to visit our Advent Christian site in San Isidro, located in the beautiful oasis of the La Purisima Valley. This is one of the areas hit by the recent Hurricane Jimenez.
We had a pleasant visit with Pastor José and his wife. We talked about the ministry challenges they face in this isolated rural valley, as well as his trips to mountain villages, which surround the area. |

IF Update - November 4, 2009 |
|
I am often reminded of the blessings in my life. This is very clear to me when I get the opportunity to go into places where the walk of faith is much more of a challenge. I never leave these situations without being reminded of God’s provision in my life.
More than this, I am troubled about how often I take for granted what I have and all of those other miscellaneous evidences of God’s grace in my life. I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that many of you are like me, and wonder how we might live our lives if we were in another context. |
