IF Update - October 21, 2009 |
I just returned from New England where I participated in the Eastern Regional convention held at the Peabody, Ma., Marriott hotel. It was a great time of fellowship, worship, connecting with friends (and making new friends), along with some business activities. It was a very special time to see and hear what God is doing in the lives of his servants. I feel very privileged to be able to partner with those who are walking with the Lord in these exciting days.
One of the special joys was to spend some time with a good friend, Dr. Ed Fudge. The weekend was filled with his teaching, Texas humor and gracious spirit. Ed and I have been friends for a long time, and I have been blessed to have him spend some time with us in at least two of our ministry sites. I am thankful that our lives were brought together again as I had the opportunity to take him back to the airport as we both prepared to fly home. As we interacted on the way to the airport, I was struck once again by his “sweet and humble” spirit. He is obviously a brilliant man, and God has gifted him with a keen mind. But this is not what moves me about him. |

News From Around Our Churches - October 21, 2009 |
 PHILIPPINES
We have been recently notified of the tremendous impact that the relief funds have made that we have been sending to Manila. As the people are recovering from the destruction from the flooding caused by the typhoon, Pastor Roy Rocha is able to distribute food, water, blankets, etc. to families. He is also reaching out to the community in the name of Christ during this time of need.
Please continue to be in prayer for the people in the Philippines as another storm is heading in their direction this week. More flooding is expected in the areas of some of our Advent Christian ministries. |

World Outreach - October 21, 2009 |
 FROM THE AFRICA/EUROPE AREA DIRECTOR
I recently received the following report from our conference President in Liberia, Abraham David. (Russell Carle)
“Let’s give God the glory for giving us the strength to share his word to the people! The Apostle Paul taught the Corinthian church to sow seeds of the gospel generously when he said, ‘Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whosoever sows generously will also reap generously’ (2 Corinthians 9:6). The more seeds you sow, the more the gospel spreads, and more people will come to the faith of Jesus Christ. The Lord’s desire is for us to join him in this work by evangelizing communities that have little or no knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the story of the woman at the well shows me how Jesus witnessed using physical needs to turn the conversation to spiritual needs, I use an evangelism tool to help me share my faith.

A Word From Our Executive Director - October 21, 2009 |
On October 15, 2009, delegates representing Advent Christian churches throughout New England and Canada, associations, auxiliaries and friends came together for the meetings of the Eastern Regional Association Annual Convention held in Peabody, Ma. The theme “Jesus – Our Ascended Lord” was accented through the keynote addresses presented by Dr. Edward Fudge (pictured above, left, with Clint Taber). Regional president Steve Ludwick (pictured above, right) presided over the business meetings, which included reports from many of the ministries promoted and supported by the region. |
