A Word From Our Executive Director - January 27, 2010 |
FROM THE COORDINATOR OF STEWARDSHIP & TITHING
There are some things you can count on. Death and taxes are two. Another is the quality of Florida CPA Jim Davis’ financial planning seminar. Superintendent of the Appalachian Region, Marshall Tidwell said of Jim’s seminar, “This is very important information. All of our pastors, especially the younger ones, would benefit from this.” A long time financial planner and seminar leader at Dowling Park, Jim has helped many Advent Christians plan for retirement. He also gives invaluable advice on ways to create a will in a way that enable people to decide how to make most effective use of their assets, not the government. The host of our first seminar, Rev. Frank Hall of Tabernacle ACC in Lenoir said, “As a result of this financial seminar and realizing that retirement is coming, ready or not, we have bought our first home.” |

News From Around Our Churches - January 27, 2010 |
 THAILAND
Ernie Schache, Rob Musick, Immanuel & Rani met with Director of World Outreach, Tim Fox in Thailand for discussions about the India & Thailand ministries. Rob & Ernie spent a week with John & Maeo Middlewood at their ministry and are excited about what is happening there.
Soup of Love is up and running again for the New Year, but with a new direction. For several years we concentrated on our own village, then last year we went to all 11 villages. Since our focus here at the Christian Mission is mainly on children, the members decided to shift to schools for this year. In our sub-district we have five elementary schools and several pre-school nurseries. We will be visiting one of the five schools and its related pre-school each month to distribute soup and tracts for the children to take home, and we will see how this works. |

World Outreach - January 27, 2010 |
FROM THE LATIN AMERICA AREA DIRECTOR
Signs of Maturing in the Lord
As the Mexican Conference is preparing their annual calendar of events for 2010, I would like to reflect and share with you a couple of maturing milestones from 2009. In one capacity or another, I have had the pleasure and joy of watching the work in Mexico grow from a fledging mission group to a functional conference. The year 2009 has seen this process continue to develop. When the blessing from the WHMFS came in the form of Christmas in October, the four original pastors that still receive financial help from ACGC decided not to accept a part of it, but to share their portion with the 13 other pastors that do not receive financial help. |

IF Update - January 27, 2010 |
I read the following comment in a report that was given by a friend of mine as he reflected on the work God had called him to do. He said, “May he (God) make us more effective servants and may His work be greatly increased in the years that remain. We so much want to finish well!”
That’s it, isn’t it? God not only wants us to be faithful, he wants us to finish well. Over the years I have come in contact with people that love the Lord, and at the time of our meeting are doing well in the work of the Lord. However, quite often, later I discover that they have not remained faithful. They have not finished well.
This is particularly important when it comes to fulfilling the great and everyday commission (Matthew 28). None of us want to be found lacking when Jesus returns. We want to be people who are actively obedient to the work of reaching people with the gospel. We want to finish well. |
