On Monday, I came back to the office after a great week of vacation with my family. Getting away is important but challenging. As a pastor, I always seemed to have something holding my attention back home, someone in the hospital or a need of the church – it was just a part of ministry. As I left the office for this time away, I wanted to heed some advice I had received from one of my directors to disconnect and focus on family. For the most part, I did, which helped me to enjoy my time with family. Now that I am back, I find a lot to catch up on.
The work on the different parts of the strategic plan continues to broaden as things unfold around the denomination. Our work with our churches through Natural Church Development continues to stretch out into new churches. Director Justin Nash is working on developing positions for church coaches in each of our regions, so that they are readily available to work with these churches. If your church is interested in discussing this survey and follow-up with Natural Church Development, please call ACGC at 1-800-676-0694.
Our work in Leadership Development continues with the move of Matt Larkin to Oxford, Maine to open our first field office. Our goal will be to open these offices and other training areas across the denomination. If you feel God is leading you toward ministry in the role of pastoral, missions or church planting, please share with your pastor, superintendent or call ACGC so that we can work with you as you prepare.
Our work with International Missions in preparing to connect with unreached people groups around the world continues to be exciting as God is showing us open doors and possibilities of new areas of ministry around the world. Please pray for Director Jeff Walsh as he explores these areas and tries to understand God’s leading as we move forward.
