As you read this E-News, we are having meetings at the offices in Charlotte with Converge Executive Director Lee Stephenson and 10 others leaders, including our ACGC directors, regional leaders and pastors that have been involved with church planting, church restoration and church restarts. This is the next step in our strategic plan focusing on Home Missions. Please pray for these meetings through Thursday and the work that will follow as we develop a strategy of partnering together to win the lost for Jesus Christ.
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend Rev. Frank and Candy Hall’s retirement reception at Tabernacle AC Church in Lenoir, N.C. It was a celebration of their ministry to the churches they had served and their work in the conferences, regions and ACGC. This is one of four such retirements that I know of over the last months, which also include Rev. Michael and Pam Gardner, Rev. Ed and Palma Neal, and Rev. Clayton and Hazel Blackstone. All of these men and their wives have faithfully served in our churches across the country for many years. We are excited for all of them in the next phase of their lives and what God has in store for them. They, along with many others, are leaving a void of pastoral leadership needed in our churches. This is why our current focus on leadership development is so important, as so many of our pastors are reaching an age where they begin to look at retirement. Please be in prayer for these men and their families as they begin a new part of their lives and for our emerging leaders as we strive to give them opportunities to serve in ministry.
