From ACGC – October 9, 2019

          (L) Converge pastor Nate Hettinga, (R) Pastor Carl Crouse

This past week, I participated in the Western Regional Conference meetings in Seattle, Wash. It was a great time of fellowshipping with delegates and learning about the churches in the region. Superintendent Rick Qualls put together a great day on Friday with reports from most of the directors and coordinators from ACGC.

Director of Finance Dawn Rutan shared through a video PowerPoint about United Ministries – how it works and the break down for each region.

Director of Church Health Justin Nash joined via Zoom from Maine and shared about the work done in partnership with Natural Church Development. Rick Qualls is a coach with NCD and has led each of the churches in the Western Region through the first survey. We heard from a number of those churches and how the focus of NCD had benefited the health of their churches. Some of them are ready to take the second survey to see the strides they have made and target areas on which they need to continue to work.

Coordinator of Home Missions Darren Bantz and Converge pastor Nate Hettinga shared about church planting. Nate shared about his experiences planting churches and being the pastor of a multiplying church. Nate is shifting to a director’s position over an area of Converge churches that are smaller, to help them develop a mindset to plant churches. Darren shared about ACGC’s desire to develop relationships with churches seeking to plant other churches throughout North America. Rick followed this by sharing his heart for partnering with churches eager to multiply and for strengthening existing churches.

Field Director Jack Mumford joined via Zoom to announce the beginning of the Ministry Training Institute (MTI) on two sites this fall and plans to open the other two in January. This will be a three-and-a-half-year educational and training program for pastors, missionaries and church planters. Currently, we have locations in Southern California, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina. For more information, visit www.mtiprogram.com. Here you can get an overview of the courses and apply to join.

Director of International Missions Jeff Walsh shared through a video PowerPoint presentation about International Missions and the future of reaching unreached people groups around the world. Currently, you can learn more through Explore Missions or going on an Ambassador Trip to one of our mission fields.

During the evening service, a mixed worship team from the Western Region directed by Pastor Schad Russell led in worship. I was privileged to preach from the theme passage from Philippians 1:3-8, “Partnering Together.” Everyone had a great time of building relationships and fellowshipping.
