Field Leader: Jean-Claude Dorsainvil
In 2014, Conference President Jean-Claude Dorsainvil oversees the six churches and 2,400 members of the newly affiliated Advent Christian Conference Haiti (ACCH).
Located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Hispaniola, Haiti Advent Christian churches are found in Delmas, Gonaives, Treuil, Hinche, Cap-Haitien, and Croix-des-Bouquets.
Poverty is a part of everyday life in both rural and urban churches in Haiti. ACCH churches seek to meet the challenges this presents bydemonstrating the love of Jesus to their neighbors.
Cholera has been ravaging remote rural areas since 2010, especially in the rainy months of August-December. In two months of 2013 there were 250 people infected by cholera and 12 deaths in the Treuil area alone. Nine members of the Treuil church were hospitalized and four died, including one of the pastors, who left a wife and seven children. Pastor Jean-Claude and Pastor Bernito Dorsainvil and five members of the AC Church of Port-au-Prince in Delmas went to provide aid and comfort to those suffering.
There is no drinking water system, no community health center, nor favorable roads in the area. The ACCH hopes to engage a Health Agent in the AC Church in Treuil and in the Advent School to provide at least first response aid. It is their strong desire to someday build amedical clinic for the area and they are praying to that end.
They also hope to work toward the eventual construction of a headquarters of the Advent Christian Church in Haiti with a guest house, schools, and medical center.
One aim of the newly organized Advent Christian Conference in Haiti is to provide spiritual and social activities for their neighbors in a way that leads them into the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Recognition by and registration with the Haitian government is the next step in the process of building and expanding their organization. There are requirements that must be met, and Pastor Jean-Claude Dorsainvil is grateful for prayers on behalf of the ACCH.
