Triennial Convention Preview: Brian Aaby
If you’re not aware of it yet, in June, the Advent Christian General Conference will be having its Triennial Convention. Every three years, Advent Christians from around the world gather to learn, grow and seek the Lord, as we discuss where he may be leading us in the future. If you’re a frequent reader of the E-News, you have likely already read about this gathering on June 24 through 28. If not, you may have received an ad in the mail or stumbled upon our convention website.
There are many wonderful opportunities available to attendees at this year’s convention; one of which is in the area of training and development for youth workers. At this year’s convention, we have the privilege to have Brian Aaby with us. Brian is the director of the coaching and search divisions of Youth Specialties, an organization that has been a leader in youth ministry training and resourcing for decades. Brian has been in youth ministry for more than two decades, having served as a youth pastor for 17 years, and having served as the founder and director of Youthmark prior to becoming part of the Youth Specialties staff.
At the convention, Brian will be serving our youth workers in a couple of different ways. First, he’ll be teaching two workshops, covering the pastor/youth worker relationship and strategies for long-term success in youth ministry. Second, he’ll be available for one-on-one coaching sessions for youth workers and pastors who want to grow in the area of youth ministry.
The coaching session opportunity is a unique one. It is an opportunity for the participant to share and to receive wise counsel from one of the nation’s leading youth ministry experts. These sessions can be focused on any youth ministry related topic, depending on the need(s) of the participant. I’d encourage you to consider this wonderful opportunity or to pass it along to your church’s youth worker for his or her consideration.
