Pornography (02-67)

Whereas God has called His people to holiness by saying, “Be holy as I am holy”, and that this holiness  includes purity of mind (Rom. 12:2), thoughts (Matt. 5:28) and body (Rom. 12:1);

And whereas it is the responsibility of Christian parents and the Church as a whole to protect our children from the attacks of the enemy and to “bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4);

And whereas mankind’s creating in the image of God includes a call to stewardship of the world (Gen. 1:26-29), and that god (richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (I Tim. 6:17)”, among these good things is the modern technology of the personal computer and the internet.

And whereas pornography is a growing epidemic in our world today and a tool of Satan that victimizes those who participate either in the production of or the viewing of such offensive material;

And whereas the technology of the personal computer and the internet has become a primary delivery tool for pornography worldwide;

And whereas there is available today a variety of internet filters which help restrict access to such pornographic sites and materials.

Be It Resolved that the Advent Christian General Conference urge the Advent Christian Church family worldwide to avail themselves to such family friendly internet filters so as to protect and resist the attacks of the Satan in their homes, their churches and places of business.

Pornography and Blasphemy (78-65)

Whereas, it appears that one of Satan’s present methods of warfare is to impair the minds and consciences of mankind by the use of pornographic material; in particular, movies produced in Europe which depict Jesus Christ as a sexual pervert, a radical, a deceiver, and a most corrupt character; and,

Whereas the influence of these movies would be most detrimental to young people,

Be it Resolved that the Advent Christian General Conference of America go on record as being opposed to the admittance and showing of pornographic movies and the sales of pornographic books and magazines and that our churches be urged to initiate action where needed, such as picketing pornographic movie houses and bookstores, influencing local law enforcement agencies to support appropriate existing laws, and by uniting our efforts with other groups already involved in such action, and to write government representatives requesting the banning of these productions.  (specific reference was made to the Danish movie “Many Phases of the Life of Christ;” and an address to send petition signatures and get information:  Interfaith Committee Against Blasphemy, PO Box 90, Glendale, CA 91209).
