New Book From Carl Crouse

Carl Crouse learned to love Mt. Baker and mountain climbing through the influence of his father, Earl Crouse. “The Heavenly Mountain: Fifty Years of Adventures on Mt. Baker and the Cascade Mountains” is Carl’s collection of stories, impressions and photographs from adventures in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Carl was 12 when he first climbed Mt. Baker in 1973, but the stories began much earlier when his father Earl climbed Mt. Baker in 1954.

The stories will entertain you, such as why Carl purposefully let his face get burned by the sun on his first trip, the prayer he was sorry got answered, the amazement of standing on the rim of an active volcano, what it’s like to fall into a crevasse and spotting a butterfly on the top of the mountain. Carl includes many tales he heard his father tell climbers who asked Earl to guide them to the top. Photographs give an up-close perspective of climbing mountain glaciers.

Be inspired by “The Heavenly Mountain” as you enter the world of mountain climbing through stories and photographs. Beyond mountain climbing, this book is about appreciating life and being amazed by God’s handiwork.

Discounted Background Checks Available for AC Churches

Numerous AC churches are making significant progress in enhancing church safety and prioritizing the well-being of children. When it comes to volunteer screening, it’s widely recognized that a standard background check is the basic requirement. However, the associated costs can sometimes hinder the ability to consistently conduct thorough screening. We have recently linked up with “Trusted Employees,” a background check provider who now offers generous discounts to AC churches. E-mail Meredith Broadway at mbroadway@acgc.us to take advantage of this offer.

Also if your church is a Brotherhood Mutual customer, check out their discounted rates here.
