Pastor Roland Roger Byrd – April 27, 1938 – January 12, 2019

Pastor Roger Byrd, 80 years old, passed away January 12, 2019 . He is survived by his wife, Linda Tench Watts Byrd; two daughters, Teresa Byrd Shannon of Greensboro, North Carolina and Sharon Byrd Tetterton of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two step daughters, Sandie Watts Benfield of Indian Trail, North Carolina and Tina Watts Morgan of Concord, North Carolina; granddaughters, Megan Shannon Cook, Shanna Benfield Brown, Amy Benfield, Brooke Bostic Carrigan; grandsons, Matthew Shannon, Andrew Shannon, Taylor Tetterton, Jordan Tetterton, Christopher Tetterton, Dillon Bostic; great grandchildren, Graham Brown, Stella Grace Brown, Everet Brown, and new great grand daughter, Chandler Grey Carrigan.

Pastor Roger was the pastor of Cabarrus Christian Fellowship in Concord, North Carolina for 13 years. He started the fellowship. He was also pastor in many more churches in his ministry of 60 years. He received his Doctorate Degree in Theology at Word of Faith University in Concord, North Carolina.

He traveled and sang with his group, Roger Byrd and The Messengers, for 7 years, which he loved so much. He loved his friends and had so many good memories of their travels together.

He loved everyone and never met a stranger. He considered a new person he met as someone soon to become a friend. He loved with the most sincere love imaginable. Everyone loved him so much. He will be so missed by one and all. He loved the Lord first and foremost in his life and his life and ministry showed it. He was a lively, fun-loving man, always joking around with those he loved. He devoted his life to preaching the word of God with all of his might. He kept the faith – He fought the fight, He won the race, and there will be a crown of righteousness waiting for him when he enters God’s kingdom on that day. He will hear, “Well done My good and faithful servant” from Jesus. He taught and preached the word, he lived the word, and his legacy will live on to all who knew him as being a TRUE MAN OF GOD.

His favorite Bible verse was ” And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus,” and He always did. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Cabarrus Christian Fellowship in Concord NC, 60 Transit Court Concord , NC 28025.
