Camping has been an integral part of the Advent Christian denomination since before we officially formed more that 160 years ago. Camps have been especially transformative in the lives of countless children and teens over the decades. For some young people, camp was where they first heard the gospel. For others it was the place where they first placed their faith in Christ as Savior. Still for others, camp was a place where their faith was nurtured and deepened as campers and camp staff. I know several people who first discerned their calls to vocational ministry as young people at camp. We likely won’t know the full effect of our summer camps this side of the return of Christ, but we can be sure that the Lord is using camping programs to continue to call young people to salvation and a deeper faith in him.

This time of year marks the beginning of the summer camping season all across the denomination. If you’d like to learn more about our many camps, please visit acgc.us/camp. There are also still opportunities to serve our camps in some way. Several camps are still trying to field a complete staff. So, if you have the time and interest to help, reach out to one of your nearby camps to see if you can be of service to them.

Please be in prayer for our camps, staff and campers this summer. Pray:

• Many will hear the gospel and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
• The Lord will call numerous young people into vocational ministry as pastors and missionaries.
• All our camps will be able to find enough qualified staff to serve our campers.
• For faithful and sound teachers and preachers to be present at every camp.
• All who are a part of our camps will grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
