We’re excited to announce the launch of a new church plant in Clayton, N.C. in the spring of 2024. Daniel Karl, who most recently served as the pastor of student ministries at Northside Community Church in Knightdale, N.C. has moved to Clayton with his wife Danielle and three children to lead the launch. The name of the church is still being finalized. The Clayton church plant will be a replant of Mt. Pleasant AC Church. Mt. Pleasant will officially close on December 31, 2023 and will transfer its remaining assets and property to the ENC Advent Christian Conference. The new church will gather in the former Mt. Pleasant space.

Why Clayton?
Clayton is the fastest growing community in Johnston County and is in the top 10 fastest growing towns in North Carolina. Advent Christians have had a presence in Clayton for several decades, though through the years, that presence has diminished including AC churches in Clayton that have closed. This church building is along a major road with communities and businesses being built nearby.

Who’s Going?
Daniel has held interest meetings at Northside to recruit seed families to join him. The hope is to have eight to 10 families from Northside make a six- or 12-month commitment to the new church plant. Beginning in early 2024, Daniel will be meeting regularly with this core group for worship, community building and planning for the Spring launch.

Who’s Helping?
The launching of this new church plant is a cooperative between the remaining members of Mt. Pleasant AC Church, Northside Community Church, the ENC Advent Christian Conference, the Southern Region and ACGC. We’re excited about the launch of this new church and the impact it will have in the Clayton community.

Why This Matters
For the last 50 years, church planting continues to be the number one most effective method to bring people into the kingdom. With the population growth in Clayton and Johnston County, we’re excited to see how the Lord will use this new church plant to bring people into a saving and growing knowledge of him.

Yesterday, many of you received a #givingtuesday email appeal to raise funds for more church planters to be assessed this Spring. You can still give to this effort here.
