Whereas corruption, scandal, and arrogant disregard of responsibility have been uncovered on practically all levels of government, now

Therefore be it Resolved that we humbly seek God’s forgiveness for the corporate sin of this nation and that we redouble our efforts to make the government responsive to the needs of the governed through the Christian values of selfless integrity and concern for the well-being of the total society, remembering that even our Lord came not to be served, but to serve, and

Be it Further Resolved that we dedicate ourselves to pray for our President and leaders of our civil government at all levels according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3, “I exhort therefore that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,” and

Be it Further Resolved that a letter be directed to the Senate of the United States commending them for proclaiming a day of prayer and fasting and humiliation on April 30, 1974, and requesting that a similar proclamation be made for the years 1975 and 1976, and

Be it Further Resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to the House of Representatives and inform them of our regrets that they did not join the Senate in this proclamation.

Whereas, there have been attempts to introduce into our national Congress legislation which would do away with tax exemption for contributions to charitable and religious institutions,

Therefore, be it Resolved that this delegate body instruct our Executive Secretary to research this matter and when appropriate, register our disapproval of such measures with the proper persons,

Be it Further Resolved that any pertinent information on this matter be published in our national papers.
