Richwood, Ohio – Danny J. Grose, 67 of Richwood, died Friday morning April 23, 2021 at the OSU James Hospital in Columbus.
He was born December 13, 1953 in Kenton to the late Emor Lestie Jr. and Rose Mary (Smith) Grose.
Danny was a 1971 graduate of the North Union High School. He has owned and instructed at the Stewardship Driving School in Marysville and Plain City for many years.
But Danny’s true calling in life was to his faith. He has served the Claibourne Advent Christian Church since 1978 as its pastor. He and his wife Melisa have been active with the Ohio Advent Christian Junior Camp in Mt. Vernon from 1974-2019, first as counselors and then as directors. Danny had a true knack with kids of this age, his nickname at camp was “Dan the Man.”
He also served the Richwood Ministerial Assn as its president and treasurer, Danny really enjoyed acting in the plays that the RMA had put on in the past.
Dan enjoyed writing and conducting puppetry productions in local events. He also had the unique ability to put Christian lyrics to secular music.
In his down time, he enjoyed reading and going to the movies.
On June 9, 1974 at the Claibourne UMC, he married Melisa (Oberdier) and she survives, also surviving are two sisters: Rose (Leo) Speicher and Pamela Webb both of Richwood. In-laws: John (Sue) Oberdier of Richwood and Karen Cramer of Riverside.
And many extended family on both sides and his loving church family.
Funeral services took place Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 6:00 pm at the Fulton Creek Friends Church; Pastor Jim Davis officiated. Friends called from 3-6 pm before the service at the church. Private burial took place Friday at the Byhalia Cemetery.
