His Legacy… Richard Ronald Darr, 84, died March 24, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 07, 1932, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Edgar and Anna Darr. While serving in the Air Force he met and then married the love of his life, Martha Turnbow of Shamrock, TX on October 23, 1954.
Richard graduated from the University of Michigan in 1960 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Richard was family-focused, strong in his faith, generous and attended Dexter United MethodistChurch. He loved watching his grandkids’ activities, Detroit and University of Michigan sports, golfing, and vacations with Martha and their family. He retired from the University of Michigan in 1996 as Operations Director in Telecommunications. After retirement he “worked” at the Hudson Mills Golf Course.
His Family… Richard will be missed by his spouse, Martha Darr; his children, Norma and Donny Heller, Ron and Sandra Darr, Gordon Darr, Tim and Deva Darr; siblings, Kathy Darr Lebeau, Arnold Darr, Mike and Karen Darr, John and Carol Darr; sister-in-law, Irene Darr; grandchildren, Sandra and Todd Genske, Becky and Nick Houle, Melissa and Matt Groth, Caroline Darr, Hailey and Larry Nunamaker, Brian Darr, Richard Darr III, and Mark and Kara Plum; great grandchildren, Marissa Genske, Alison Genske, Lillie Nunamaker, Laynie Nunamaker, Clara-Mae Plum, Alan Groth, Charles T. Plum, and Walter Groth. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings and their spouses: Edward and Mardell Darr, Robert Darr, Dale and Elizabeth Milliken, Donald Darr; and brother-in-law, John Lebeau.
His Farewell… Richard’s family and friends will gather 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Dexter United Methodist Church. His Community Farewell will be held 11:00AM, Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Dexter United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Snyder will serve as celebrant.
