DeKalb ACC Donates School Supplies to Families in Need

ILLINOIS – The DeKalb Advent Christian Church collected school supplies for the N.I.C.E. (Neighbors In Christ Ecumenical Food Pantry) Center. The N.I.C.E. Center is a non-denominational human service organization that works under the direction of local member churches dedicated to families in need who live in the southwest part of DeKalb County or southeast part of Lee County, Illinois. N.I.C.E. seeks to provide food, clothing, household items and emergency services with Christian compassion in a warm, caring environment. It is a non-profit that 15 churches provide volunteers to service. DeKalb is not one of the churches, but we help by collecting school supplies for their back-to-school “fill the backpack” event. One of our WHFMS members, our secretary, Debbie Griswold, was an elementary school teacher in that area and helped us to be aware of a need we could partner with. We have participated for the past 5-7 years.
