Free to Be Advent Christians

Conference President Amos Komanya

TANZANIA – In recent months we’ve reported on God’s work among the Hadzabe people in Tanzania. The park service and other government officials close to the Hadzabe have also heard. But this means loss of business for them. Certain other religious groups (some of whom are reportedly not Christian) had sought permission to visit the Hadzabe. The park service gave its assent and thus received a fee, but the Hadzabe declined the invitation, saying they already were part of a family of God. So, the park service immediately demanded verification, calling for someone to make the two-day journey from the Mwanza Region with our government registration papers.

Conference President Amos Komanya rose to the challenge, and on Monday July 12, 2021 he began the long trip, arriving late Tuesday evening. The following day he presented himself before the government authorities and showed to them the proof of our government recognition. We are now pleased to announce that the Hadzabe are free to meet as members of the Advent Christian Church and are further free to expand the Kingdom of God among their tribal members without the intrusion of other groups. Brother Amos then proceeded to take this news to the Hadzabe himself. He hired a vehicle to drive into the Serengeti for as far as it could go, knowing that there would remain an hour of walking to reach a settlement. Along the weathered route the vehicle lost it brakes and slammed into a ditch. The vehicle was unable to proceed and Pastor Amos was injured. He was unable to continue the journey yet found strength in the Lord to make the two-day trip home. He is home now, trying to recover while in some degree of pain.

Spiritual warfare is evidenced each time we make an effort to reach this people group who God loves. We are confident that God has the final victory.
