Following Christ in 2022

Executive Director Steve Lawson

I think we would all agree 2021 was a hard year for everyone! Throughout the year we received information, advice, new regulations and requirements that changed at least weekly. Our economy and local businesses suffered greatly from the spring of 2019 through the end of 2021. We have witnessed the emergence of new, and often radical, ideas about culture, gender, race and socialism and we’ve often seen the “cancelation” of those who disagree. With much of these ideas still circulating, it goes without saying that 2022 will be a challenging year. However, it will be a great year if we face it with the knowledge that God is in control and will guide us in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am ready with all that I am to serve Christ and honor him with my life!

This year, let’s begin our service to Christ with a mindset of Scripture: “Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thess. 5:16-18). It is so important that no matter what we face, we keep this desire at the forefront of our lives. It is a testimony to the world of our trust in the Lord and his faithfulness to us. Most of all, we should give thanks for God’s greatest gift to us, Jesus Christ who provides our way of salvation. Let us be bold in sharing this good news with a world that so desperately needs to hear it.

Lastly, in Paul’s letters he thanks God for those to whom he writes, and so do I for all of you. You have prayed for us, supported us in ministry and encouraged us with your partnership. As we enter 2022, I celebrate our partnership in the ministry of the Advent Christian Church and look forward to what God has planned for us this year!
