Brush Fires Contained at ACGC

We had a little excitement at the office this past weekend! A tree fell on the power lines on the east side of the property on Saturday and started a fire in the brush under the lines. The wind was blowing pretty strongly but, praise the Lord, it was blowing away from the office. Thankfully, someone driving by saw the fire and called 911 and the local volunteer fire department came and put the fire out. But then on Sunday, the winds were blowing and another fire started, so they came back and saved the day again. A special thank you to these brave men who give so much to our community. Also, a special thanks to Director of Finance Dawn Rutan for her watchful care over the property – she was right there for both fires ready to open gates and protect the building and equipment.

Meetings at Alton Bay

It is always a blessing to visit Alton Bay Conference and Retreat Center in New Hampshire. This past weekend, I attended Berkshire trustee meetings and the Alton Bay board meeting. During our time, Alton Bay hosted other guests including a “Emmaus Walk Group.” I have never attended one of these events, but have heard wonderful things about the experience. It was great to see the spiritual focus of those gathered for this event and the love and care that organizers gave to make it special for the participants. I believe the Methodist Church usually host these events, but have invited others to participate. Maybe someday I will experience the walk first-hand.

Save the Date for Triennial 2023!

Please pray for the staff this week as we will be working on future plans for the 2023 Triennial Convention. If you have not saved the date, please put it on your calendar for August 7-11, 2023 and plan to join us for a wonderful time of fellowship, sharing, and seeking God’s guidance for the future ministry of the Advent Christian Denomination. There will be more information coming out soon so you can begin to make your reservations. We covet your prayers as we strive to make this a wonderful experience for everyone to come together.
