Maine Meetings

This past week, Justin Nash and I traveled up to Oxford, Maine to meet with Darren Bantz, Matt Larkin and Western Region Superintendent Rick Qualls. We were discussing the relationship between ACGC and the Western Region and how we could be more effective in communicating and coordinating our ministries. These were great meetings and I appreciate Superintendent Rick Qualls’ desire to work together on the Strategic Plan as we move closer to the Triennial. Thankfully, during our trip Rick was able to experience what Maine winters can be like since we had 11 inches of snow and subzero temperatures, along with very cold winds.

Following our meetings Matt Larkin, Berkshire President Glenn Rice and I met in Portland, Maine to talk about the next steps for the Ministry Training Institute. It is amazing how this program has taken hold and the opportunities that seem to be opening up for the future. You will hear more about this at the Triennial in August and we hope some of our students will be there to report. Glenn and Matt continue to work closely developing recruitment and working with the current 15 students in our first sessions.

Partnership with Kingswood University

On Thursday afternoon, Matt and I headed up to Kingswood University in Canada to meet with President Stephen Lennox and sign a Partnership Agreement between Advent Christian General Conference and Kingswood University. This agreement enables those attending Berkshire Institute of Christian Studies to transfer their courses to their work at Kingswood University. As the MTI program continues, there is hope that those courses may be accepted as well. Our discussion with the administration of Kingswood included other ideas for partnership that we hope will develop as we work together. While I was there, I had the opportunity to preach in their Friday chapel service and meet a number of their students, including AC Student Madison Bantz, and some of their faculty. Even though the temperatures were very cold, even for Canada, we received a warm reception from everyone there. I encourage you to visit Kingswood’s website and to keep them in your prayers at they strive to prepare Christian workers for the ministry!
