Church Planting Gains Momentum

Executive Director Steve Lawson

We’re making progress in implementing our strategic plan. First, the Ministry Training Institute (MTI) will graduate their first class in 2023. We believe MTI will provide new pastors, missionaries and church planters for our churches and ministries now and into the future.

International Missions has seen recent success in reaching unreached people groups in six countries, most notably with the Hadzabe in Tanzania. The Department of Church Health has done formal in-person evaluations, phone consultations and on-site training events for 15 churches in the last year.

The final area of the strategic plan that is gaining momentum is church planting. Our new coordinator of church planting Dr. Adrian Dixon has contacted interested individuals who have started the church planting process. We aim to have at least one church plant launched before the 2023 Triennial and more planters working through the evaluation process. Adrian will meet with our superintendents in September to discuss future plans.

Several church leaders have expressed interest in both planting and partnering with plants in their area. You can be involved as well by praying for our church planters and potential sites. Or, if you are interested in church planting, contact Adrian Dixon at 704-545-6161 or adixon@acgc.us.
