Approaching Executive Council Meetings and Triennial 2023

Executive Director Steve Lawson

It has been a busy week as we prepare for the Executive Council meetings happening September 14-16 and the Triennial Convention in August 2023. The meetings of the council and the delegate body are important to the ongoing ministry of the Advent Christian denomination. Over the last seven years, we have continued to communicate and connect with our regions, conferences and, most importantly, our local churches. The mission statement of ACGC is, “Convinced of the imminent return of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Advent Christian General Conference Exists to Encourage, Equip and Empower Advent Christian Churches worldwide to be obedient to His Great Commandment and Great Commission.” We see the local church as our primary customer and we work with the regions and conferences to serve them and assist them in their ministries to their members and communities.

As we look forward to the Executive Council Meetings in September, we will be hearing from our associate members with reports of their ministries and from our superintendents about the regional work around North America. Our fall meetings are the one time a year the council meets in person, which gives us time to fellowship and share about the individual departments of ACGC. Our council members need to have a clear picture of our ministry to be our representatives to the boards of the conferences and regions, and to share with the local churches as they have opportunities. Please pray for our members as they prepare to travel to Charlotte, N.C. and read through the book of reports they will receive next week.

Our planning continues for the 2023 Triennial Convention, specifically for the meetings, seminars, townhall gatherings, childcare and times of fellowship. These meetings are important in a number of ways, first to conduct the required business of ACGC, including elections of officers, receiving of reports, approving of our budget and hearing about our strategic plan for the near future. Another key part of the convention is the fellowship that can take place during our free time and around our general sessions. One of the things I enjoy the most is seeing old friends and making new friends as we come together with the family of God.

Hope to see you all there!
