First Advent Christian Church Holds 105th Homecoming

This past Sunday, I had the privilege of attending and sharing at the First Advent Christian Church in Hickory, North Carolina. The morning started off with a great time of fellowship over sausage biscuits and coffee for breakfast. The services began with a piano concert by church pianist Melissa Lesbines.

It was a full day of activities in the worship service with Pastor John Roller and music director Robyn Moore leading us through. It was great to hear about the heritage of this 105-year-old church family. I even snooped around and found a previous year’s booklet with a running history of the church including the different building campaigns. I had the privilege of sharing from the Word of God relating Hebrews 11 to the “Great Homecoming Day.”

Following worship, we gathered in the fellowship hall for an old fashion covered dish meal with all the fixins. As always, it was great to spend time with wonderful people sharing a blessed time of remembering.

After the celebration, I headed back to Charlotte and begin my week at the office. Please remember Director of International Missions Jeff Walsh as he leaves for the Philippines on Tuesday, along with our Asia/Pacific Area Director. They will be spending time with Erwin and Rowena Cabrizos and other leaders in the conference and at Oro Bible College for the next almost two weeks. Please keep all of these leaders in your prayers as they travel around and meet with churches.
