Eastern Region Convention and Board Meetings

The Eastern Region Board met last Wednesday night at Faith Evangelical Church in Melrose, Mass. for supper and fellowship. We began our meetings on Thursday morning at Gordon-Conwell with breakfast hosted by Dr. Sam Warren, followed by morning business. Lunch was hosted by Advent Christian Retirement Communities president Larry Knowles at a local restaurant. Our meetings continued through the afternoon and concluded with supper hosted by the Haverhill Advent Christian Church.

Advent Christian Eastern Region held its yearly convention at the Gordon-Conwell Seminary campus last Friday and Saturday in South Hampton, Massachusetts. The theme for the conference was “He’s Coming Again,” focusing on Acts 1:11. Rev. Brent Ross from Hope Church in Loganville, Georgia was the keynote speaker. Director of Communication Justin Nash shared a seminar on Friday afternoon entitled, “People of the Written Word: The Heritage and Future of AC Publications.” Other convention presenters included Dr. Sam Warren (“Advancing the Kingdom of God through king Disciples”), Rev. Paul Veit (“Aliens and the Truth”) and Dr. Gordon Isaac (“People of the Second Coming”). Erik Reynolds and I had the opportunity to share about the work on the church planting movement in the Advent Christian denomination. Delegates were also given the opportunity to tour the Adventual collection housed in the seminary library.

On Saturday morning, ACGC staff, associate members and regional committees gave their reports. President George Karl lead the business session, which dealt with the 2023 budget and new officers’ elections.

It was great to gather at the beautiful seminary campus and have the opportunity to see the Adventual collection. This may have been our last visit the South Hamilton campus since the seminary plans to sell it and move into Boston.
