Workshops at Triennial Convention

The 2023 Triennial Convention is only two months away! The convention will take place August 7-11 at the Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC. The registration deadline is July 15. You can register by phone at 704-545-6161 or online by clicking HERE.

We will have a number of workshops at this year’s convention. Some will be repeated in order to allow everyone an opportunity to attend them. Here is a rundown of the workshops and plenary sessions we will be having:

Voices From the Field

This workshop will feature interviews with international missions guests and leaders. Dr. Ezhil Christadoss, our Mission Manager in India, will relate details of our ongoing mission work in India. And Bryce Whiting, Africa/Europe Area Director will share the story of our mission among the Hadzabe tribe.

Church Planting & Advent Christians

In this session, we will highlight a brief history of the church planting movements within the Advent Christian denomination.  Using that history, we’ll talk about where we are now with church planting and how we can be a part of the next movement of church planting within the Advent Christian denomination.

Finding Leaders

In this session, we will be examining the leadership landscape within the Advent Christian network and discussing different avenues for filling our present leadership needs. This department discussion will provide information about the efforts of ACGC’s Department of Leadership Development with a particular emphasis on the establishment and growth of our Ministry Training Institute initiative since the last Triennial Convention.

The Soul of a Pastor

The state of a pastor’s spiritual, physical and mental health greatly influences the overall spiritual health of the pastor’s family and ministry. This workshop is designed to help churches care well for their pastors and to help pastors care well for themselves.

Denominational Restructuring Town Hall

As the denomination changes in size, some sectors are calling for a revised denominational structure that is more efficient while others believe the current structure remains sufficiently effective and efficient and requires no change. In this town hall meeting we will host a public discussion that brings together advocates of both positions and consider together the best path forward.

Sexual Abuse in the Church

In this public discussion Clinical Psychologist Dr. Debra Nickerson will offer insights from her considerable experience working with survivors and abusers. We will consider the impact this has on the church and what we can do protect those entrusted to our care.
