“The Christian who walks with the Lord and keeps constant communion with Him will see many reasons for rejoicing and thanksgiving all day long.” – Warren W. Wiersbe

Last Sunday at Dulin’s Grove Church, our pastor gave an opportunity for people to share what they were thankful for going into this week of Thanksgiving. It was exciting to hear about things people were thankful for – and they were not just simple things. They shared how God allowed them to worship him even in their weakness, how he not only provided but set their minds to looking for how he was going to miraculously supply during tough times, and how he is God on the mountains and in the valleys of life. We have so much to be thankful for in our world today and we need to stop and count our blessings.

As you prepare for Thanksgiving Day, I encourage you to think about how God has blessed you in ways that even if you never received another blessing you would still praise him. Think about the fact that, because of his great love, we are saved with assurance of eternal life. Think about the fact that we are able to approach God as a loving heavenly Father through prayer with the knowledge that he will always cause the best in our lives according to his wonderful plan. Think about the hope we have that this world is not the end but a stepping stone to our eternal home. Yes, as we sit down to a great meal with our families and look around at the blessings of our lives, we should be thankful. However, as I travel to visit my family and remember those who won’t be there because they are asleep in Christ awaiting the second coming, I am thankful that I have a hope for the great homecoming when we will all be together again in the kingdom of God. I’m thankful for my hope in the day of thanksgiving at the great banquet feast in the kingdom!

From all of us here at Advent Christian General Conference, have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! We pray that you will be filled with praise and thanksgiving for all God has done.
