A New Transition

Amid this COVID-19 pandemic, my wife Karen and I have made a difficult and life-changing decision. Karen has always felt that if the time came when her parents needed her to be closer, she wanted to be available, and I have supported her in that desire. We’ve come to that point and will be adjusting our living situation to allow her to move to Fernandina Beach, Fla. to be close to her parents. I will continue to live in Charlotte, N.C. and serve as Executive Director of ACGC. As most of you know, my position includes a lot of travel and work online, but I will continue to be in the office in Charlotte to work closely with our directors and superintendents for a minimum of four days a week, unless I’m traveling. I have shared this with the Executive Council and my co-workers at ACGC and all are willing to work with me to make this possible.

Triennial Updates

We are continuing to consider our Triennial Convention and are planning to reschedule it for later this year or early in 2021. Until we see how long our stay-at-home order lasts and how quickly we all recover from this time, however, we cannot make those decisions. Please keep our staff and the Executive Council in your prayers as we make plans for our future ministries throughout the world.

How Do We Progress?

As we move closer to the end of stay-at-home orders, we begin to think about how it will look to come back together and still practice social distancing for the safety of our people. Even now, those having drive-in church services have been careful to keep their distance. When we come back together, we need to take time to seriously think about how we come in, sit through worship and leave in a safe manner. I don’t have the answers, but I will be looking for best practices and encourage all of us to spend time preparing.

May God grant us wisdom as we try to glorify him in all that we do!
