It’s All in God’s Plan

Steve Lawson, Executive Director

It has been almost a week since our country went out to vote. The questions about the elections continue to rage on. The counting of and questions about votes and their outcomes will continue for days to come. However, one thing we can rest assured of is that none of this has happened outside of God’s control. This past Sunday, I heard a pastor say that elections are not always about who we want to win or the best man for the job, but about the man that fulfills God’s ultimate plan.

When we are faced with difficult times, we often wonder where God is. In those times, we must remember that he is there. We must consider not where he is, but what is separating us from seeing his hand in our world.

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Nor is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear.
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden Hi
]face from you so that He does not hear” (Isaiah 59:1-2).

As we face the future, we need to rest in the presence of God, knowing that nothing is beyond his reach or control, comforted in the knowledge that he hears our cries. His perfect will is the thing we should desire. All the way back to the Garden of Eden we have been a people that want to be in control. We all face rebellion and self-centered hearts, but we must repent and reconcile our hearts to trust and depend on God. No matter the outcome of our elections, God is on the throne and in control of this world and eternity. I will sleep in the knowledge and peace that this is all part of his plan!
