The Necessity of Christian Fellowship

Executive Director Steve Lawson

It is great to get back together! Over the last few weeks, I have had the opportunity to be with my children, grandchildren, siblings, mother, mother/father in-law, and their families. It has been so refreshing and a real blessing. For most of these it has been close to a year since we have been together and I never want to go through that again. I have also taken advantage of getting together with Christian friends and being in church for worship. Virtual church has been a blessing when there was no safe way to gather, but we are coming out of that time. We must set a priority of getting back together in praise and worship.

I would have never believed so much could change so quickly in our country and especially in our churches. This virus has taken a toll in so many different ways and it has truly affected the body of Christ. It has been said that every Sunday you miss makes it easier to miss the next time and for so many we have been forced to miss a lot of Sundays. For many they have found it comfortable and easy to watch church from their recliner with a cup of coffee. I believe Satan is enjoying watching this happen to body of Christ as we become weaker and weaker because of separation.

It is important that we realize the necessity of Christian fellowship and worship that can only truly take place when we come together in Jesus’ name. We need to hold each other accountable and encourage each other to hold fast to our faith and fellowship!

“Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:23-25, NASB).
