Camp Season Winds Down

Camp Dixie

It is hard to believe that it is August and the summer schedule is coming to an end, not that the hot weather is over. Many of our students across the country are making plans to be back in school or going back to college soon and we need to be in prayer for them. The rising numbers for COVID continues to be a major concern and reports are that young people can be at risk, so precaution is something we all need to be focused on for the schools, churches and all meeting places.

Christian camps have been active this summer and for the most part safe and successful. We have received many reports of well-attended sessions and with spiritual benefits for both campers and staff. There have been a few issues with COVID, but our camp leaders have responded quickly and limited exposure. Please be in prayer for these ministries as most of them are still recovering from a difficult year of shut down due to the pandemic. Most of us have great memories of our camping days and many trace their beginnings of faith in Christ to those special times at camp. It would be a great loss to the next generations if these ministries became a fatality of the pandemic. The alumni of these camp have responded to supporting these ministries through financial gifts during these down times and it has helped to keep them going.

Executive Council Meetings to be Held in Charlotte

As we move forward to the fall, please keep our conferences, regions and ACGC’s meetings in your prayers. We are currently planning on having our Executive Council meetings in Charlotte in person September 7-11. This will be the first gathering for our new council members and the new President Rev. John Gallagher. Please be in prayer for these meetings as we come together to evaluate ACGC’s ministry through the pandemic and its future path in supporting our local churches.
