Rev. Bob Story Receives Divine Servant Medallion

One of my honors as Executive Director is to present the Divine Servant Medallions to our pastors who have served as ordained ministers for 50 years. This past Sunday, I traveled to Advent Christian Village to present Rev. Robert (Bob) Story his medallion during the morning worship service. Rev. Story was ordained on September 17, 1971 in the Maine State Conference. He served as pastor in Bridgton, Maine; Clear Fork Advent Christian Church in West Virginia; and Community Advent Christian Church in East Norwalk, Connecticut. Before the service, Bob and I had the opportunity to talk about his ministry and he shared that he had pastored in Norwalk for 35 years. This church was very small when he first came and he was told that it probably would not survive, but he did not let that influence him in his role as pastor and the church flourished through his ministry. He and his wife Brenda served lovingly and faithfully to all their churches to the honor and glory of God!

They moved to the Advent Christian Village where Bob serves as organist of the Village Church. Bob shared with me that for him growing old came way too quickly in his service for the Lord.

Just as a reminder to all our pastors it is important when you fill out your yearly report to include in your current credentials and the date of your ordaining conference’s ordination service. This helps us keep track of our pastors and their years of service. Remember conferences handle credentialing and as you move around, we want to keep track of years of service.
