Carl T. Hankins

Carl Thomas Hankins, age 88, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 20, 1926 in McDowell County, WV, to the late Thomas Richard and Sallie Belle (McCann) Hankins.

Carl Hankins loved the Lord. He was devoted to winning souls for Christ. He was a doting husband, and loving father and grandfather, and an adored pastor for many years. When Carl passed from this earth into Heaven there was great rejoicing. His family today rejoices with him and thanks God for the privilege of loving and being with him all these years. “Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of life.” Yesterday Carl Hankins took freely his gift of life from our Lord and Savior.

Carl served in the Army during WWII in Germany and Austria. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Mount Vernon for 30 years. Carl’s greatest passion was pastoring the Willow Grove Advent Christian Church from 1980 to 2010. His love that he showed to people was tremendous. Carl was satisfied with his place in life and lived it to the fullest.

He is survived by his daughters, Crystal (Eugene) Ball of Sunbury, OH and Linda (William) Powell of Washington, WV; 5 grandchildren, Crystal, Chad, Christopher, Mandy and Melinda; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Brown of Mount Vernon, OH and Ada Hack of Cardington, OH; a brother, Hubert Hankins of North Wilkesboro, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Carl is preceded in death by wife, Pauline Hankins; a sister, Sylvia Baldwin; brothers, Grant Hankins, George Hankins and Blaine Hankins.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11 AM at the Willow Grove Advent Christian Church, in Mt. Liberty, OH with Pastor Chad Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
