IMAC Meetings Held in Charlotte

The International Missions Advisory Committee (IMAC) met at the ACGC offices in Charlotte November 12-13. IMAC is comprised of Rev. Travis Hutcheson, Rev. Jim Jensen, Rev. Frank Jewett, Rev. David Van Huisen and Dr. Sam Walsh. Also present at the meetings were Catherine Rybicki, ACGC missions engagement coordinator, Rev. Bryce Whiting, Africa/Europe area director, the Asia Pacific area director and Craig Libby, Latin America area director, joined by Zoom. International missions director Jeff Walsh facilitated the two days of meetings, which consisted of times of concentrated prayer, reporting from the various Advent Christian mission works around the globe and strategic discussions about the opportunities and possibilities the Lord is opening in Advent Christian missions.

Much time was given to discussion regarding our works in India, the future of which is tenuous, because of oppressive anti-Christian policies enacted by India’s pro-Hindu government. Much good news continues to come out of Tanzania where a faithful group of pastors perseveres in discipling the new believers among the Hadzabe tribe in the Serengeti wilderness despite great personal cost. At the time of the meetings, these evangelists were ministering among the Datooga people, a fruitful new mission field located in the same area. Encouraging reports also came from the growing works of Erwin and Rowena Cabrizos and the various Agape House ministries. Reports of recent baptisms and growing ministries in Japan were especially encouraging.

Wednesday night, Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church hosted a night of missions celebration. The church, pastored by Rev. Matt Rice, provided a great meal and venue for area churches to gather and hear about the work the Lord is allowing Advent Christians to be involved in around the world. More than 40 people attended the event. The Asia Pacific area director, Rev. Whiting and Catherine Rybicki all made presentations.

Much was discussed and prayed about over the course of two very full days. Please be in prayer for Jeff and the area directors as they process all the information and possibilities, and seek the Lord’s guidance for the future. Pray that the Lord will provide wisdom, discernment, clarity, unity and faith for everyone who is a part of the Advent Christian missions team. Pray also that the Lord will open more gospel opportunities and provide workers for the harvest.
