Joyce Vivette Cook

Joyce Vivette Cook left this world on October 12th to be with the Lord and her beloved husband.  Joy was the daughter of the late Bernie and Ethel (Bradbury) Short of Clear Fork, WV.  Joy was a homemaker, a headstart teacher in 1972 and a teachers aide from 1973 to 1995.  Joy was a member of the Clear Fork Advent Christian Church for 78years where she served as a Sunday School teacher, song leader, member of the quartet and church treasurer.  Joy was a founding member of the Gospel Proclaimers where she sang with her husband Gene and family.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents Bernie and Ethel (Bradbury) Short of Clear Fork, WV, Beloved husband Gene Tunney Cook, son  Anthony Brett Cook, son-in-law Will Stewart and grandson Jonathan Stewart. Sisters Geneva (Neva) (Short) Pennington. Esther (Short) Hicks, and brothers Gene Short, and Clarence (CD) Short.

Left to cherish her memory are a son Mark Cook of Clear Fork, WV and daughter Susan (Stewart) (Johnny) Smith of Forest, VA. A sister Janet (Short) Goins-Dixon of Clearfork, WV and brother Gerald Short of Oceana, WV.  Joy has five grandchildren, Kelli (Ronnie) Daniels of Claremont, NC;  William (Melinda) Stewart of Matheny, WV;  Jamie (Charles) Miller of Evington, VA;  Samantha Cook of Princeton, WV; and Alec Cook of Fort Meyers, FL. 

Joy left a legacy of family to remember her. Great grandchilden: Summer (Hunter) Harvey, Montana Daniels (Cole Ervin), Zackary Daniels (Bridgette Caldwell) of NC.  Kelsi Stewart of VA. Charlie Miller, Mason Miller, and Bennette Miller of VA. Jensen Blankenship of WV.  Great great grandchildren: Remington Daniels, Colter Ervin and Creed Harvey all of NC.
