ILLINOIS – About 3,000 plastic Easter eggs disappeared in an hour at Aurora Advent Christian Church’s seventh annual Easter Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 16.
The morning event on the church lawn drew about 175 attendees. The hunt, conducted in three flights by age, was free to children through fifth grade. Baskets were available on request.
Rev. Matt Mull, senior pastor, opened the scramble with a welcome and recounting of the biblical Easter story. When his microphone failed, he brought out a megaphone to launch the hunters.

Filled eggs contained candy and tickets to redeem for prizes. Donated by congregants, prizes included toys, sports balls, sidewalk chalk, children’s’ Bibles and gift cards. Volunteers staffed eight prize stations where kids claimed prizes.
The event concluded with families taking eggs home or opening eggs and placing egg parts in buckets for recycling.
