Margaret Phillips Helms, 87, of Union County passed away at her home on Friday, September 30, 2022.
Miss Helms was born September 18, 1935 in Union County to the late Martin L. Helms and the late Seena Adeline Baucom Helms.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jackson “Jack” Helms, Rev. Thomas “Tom” Helms, Joseph “Joe” Helms; sisters, Rachel Helms McGee, Mary Helms, Carolyn Helms Purser.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday, October 3, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 1:00 pm, with a 30 minute lie-in-state starting at 12:30 p.m., at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Rd., Monroe, officiated by Rev. Justin Nash and Pastor Travis Hutcheson. Burial will follow at the Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family will be gathering at their home at a later time.
Survivors include sisters, Patricia “Pat” Jenkins, Martha Helms, and Rebecca “Gail” Jacobs.
Margaret was a member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church. She was a missionary in the Philippines from 1959-1996 with 1.5 years in Japan. When she came home she continued to serve as Minister of Visitation and out reach to shut ins. She also went on short mission trips to Mexico and Honduras.
She loved flowers and people, but most of all she loved her Lord.
