Muslim Girl Finds Jesus at Sunday School

(LtoR): SS Teacher, Emula, Pastor Kasakatira

MOZAMBIQUE – Emula Sheriff is 10 years of age and comes from a Muslim home. In 2019 her parents divorced, and her father moved to another country, leaving Emula with her mother. Parental separation compels young people to seek security in one’s friendships, so naturally Emula deepened her friendships with some children in her village. These children intrigued her when she witnessed them memorizing Bible verses for their Sunday school classes. She went with them to Sunday school and heard about the love of God the Father. She openly participated in singing, memorization and worship and soon gave her heart to the Lord Jesus.

In July 2021 Emula’s father returned. When he learned that she had become a Christian, he forced her to go back to the Muslim Mosque. Emula obediently did as her father ordered, but on August 13 during the service of prayer to Allah, she arose from her prayer mat and walked out, choosing instead to follow Jesus Christ. Pastor Samuel Kasakatira writes, “Today, Sunday August 22, we saw Emula joining again our Sunday school team. Pray for her choice because Jesus is the only Savior.”
