Nancy Kay Guess, 62, passed away in Fort Worth on May 17th after a five-year battle with cancer.
Born in Ennis on October 9, 1959 to Floyd and Peggy (Harris) Helms, Nancy grew up in Avalon and Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1977.
Nancy spent more than thirty years working in insurance where she was able to do what she loved best; help others. She also served her community through deep involvement with Riverside Advent Christian Church and as a volunteer for Fort Worth ISD.
Nae Nae, as her grandkids knew her, had a servant’s heart and always put her family and community first. She loved to sing, bake and decorate cakes, make Halloween costumes, work in the yard and vacation with the family. She was known for her grace, generosity and nurturing spirit and leaves behind a legacy of love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Peggy Helms.
She is survived by her husband, John Guess; brother, Steve Helms and his wife, Nancy; her son, Philip Spaniel and his wife, Katy; her daughter, Meredith Andersen and her husband, Derek; stepsons, Matthew Guess and Jason Guess and their families; grandchildren Josie, Delaney, Heidi, Dempsey, Matilda and Margaret.
