New Believers Encouraged with Bibles and Kid’s Ministry Flourishes through Agape House

MATI CITY, PHILIPPINES – Among the many responsibilities Erwin and Rowena Cabrizos have as Agape House ministry leaders, one is oversight of the vocational college known as CANDORTCI. CANDORTCI stands for Christian Academy in Davao Oriental Technical College, Inc. It is located on the Agape House compound in Mati City. This ministry has expanded in recent years to serve not only college students, but high school and elementary students as well. Spiritual care for the faculty and staff is a high priority. Last week Rowena shared the following:

“As the regular Wednesday devotion continues at CANDORTCI among its members of the faculty and staff, yesterday was a bit different since they received new Bibles and a devotional guide. One of the teachers stated, ‘I have been desiring to receive a new Bible and I thank the Lord that he granted my heart’s desire and I am so glad to have received it today.’ Please note that most of the teachers are newly hired and are new believers. We thank God also for the provision of Bibles through our brethren from ACGC.” The Bibles were a special gift from the brothers and sisters of the Friendship (Maine) Advent Christian Church.

Another active Agape House ministry in Mati City is the Sunday School Extension. The Sunday School Extension reaches more than 800 children in eight different communities of Mati City each month. On Sunday, February 25, the Agape House staff focused on feeding programs in four of the communities: Magapo, Malinawon, Maitum and Tagawisan. Rowena notes: “The staff did a Sunday School lesson to the children first in these various areas with arts for the children. Some photos show that the children enjoyed coloring their art works whether on the chairs, benches or on the floors. They did not have tables or nice desks to do their art work but are happy doing it. Thanking God for their lives and for the lives of our Agape House staff. The kids were then fed with bread, cheese and juices. We also thank the Lord for the fine weather. God is so good!”
