Parsonage Secures Ministry Permanency

Eva and Pastor Juan

By Latin America Area Director John Gilbert

MEXICO – For many years the “Mission La Paz” church met in the city park while Pastor Juan and his wife, Eva, lived in a rental house about seven miles away from where they were meeting in the community of “Villas de Guadalupe.” They met there for church, music classes, VBS, sports programs and all of the other ministries for an unreached community.

In 2015, the Mexican Conference was able reallocate funds for the down payment on a piece of corner property that had all the indications of growth potential. That property has since been paid off by the church members. Within two years, they installed a septic system and secured a trailer so they could meet on the property during bad weather. Now it is exciting to see that the church has begun to construct a house for the pastor and his wife. One of the draw backs in ministering in the community over the years was the lack of a permanent structure. The people didn’t feel that Pastor Juan and Eve were really part of their community and therefore not permanent. All that to say, they have started building the pastor’s house on the property! Rejoice with them, and me, that the Lord has been faithful to them and they have remained faithful to the Lord’s calling on their life.
